Oh my god, Lake Superior is REALLY big. I left at noon and arrived at Sault Ste. Marie as the sun was setting. All the construction didn't help, but on the bright side I got to see a freshly blasted chunk of mountain. And I am calling it a mountain because if a hill is high enough to make my ears pop, it is mountainous to me. In the last two hours of the drive, the trees finally parted and I got a unobstructed lengthwise view of the Great Lake for the first time and it took my breath away. A body of water as wide as Saskatchewan might as well be an ocean when you look at it like that. Although now I pretty much know exactly how big it is, it's still difficult to wrap my head around. That was a long day, and I am going to sleep well tonight. I set out to hit the road today, I didn't really expect the road to hit back.
